Unnamed
by Avo Artinyan

It skipped carelessly across
An asphalt-laden road
And leapt to a newly-sown field,
Then stared wide-eyed, untroubled
As I hurried by.
It roamed carefree and naive,
Its coming and going uncertain,
Until it encountered its
Artful, inkful Master.

And now, shackled in words,
Beaten and betrayed, it lies
Lifeless for You to behold...

The Heart does not speak in meter,
The Soul does not yearn in rhyme,
Love is most telling untold,
Emotion unnamed is unbound.
