A
Trip To The Doctor
by
Lauren Kaufman
Just
for a moment,
Pull out the magnifying glass,
Hand it to a stranger
And allow him to amplify your life.
Give permission for scrutiny
For judgment,
For comparison.
Allow the mind of another
To pull at the tiny threads of your life
And risk exposing the nudity of your soul.
Just for
a moment,
Tell all, and tell it quickly.
Don't forget a thing,
Concentrate.
Ignore the pressure
Ignore the vulnerability
Ignore the spotlight.
Make it understandable.
Just for
a moment,
Step outside your life
Into a doctor's office.
Don't look back,
Or even around you
At the life you're living.
Instead, stop time,
And recount it.
Just for
a moment,
Allow the knowledge of centuries
To untwist your complexities.
To read between your lines
And make meaning of the un-obvious.
Give scrutiny a chance,
Allow comparison to unveil
The light that may lead your way.
