Molecular Meandering
by Karen Tsoulas

So firmly engulfed in you, yes, ‘tis true I’ve become
Into your dark caverns I must now extensively plumb

When, poof! I shrink to an atom, and into your mouth merrily dive
Traveling round your body, to explore such secret inner archives

Braving arterial currents I spin, tumbling carefree and mellow
Passing by proteins and platelets, waving my neighborly hello

Special pause must I take, passing sentinel whites marching so grand
With grateful exclaim, “Thank you all for keeping his microbial army well manned!”

‘Tween those endothelials I percolate when I dare steal a peek
With marvel at glistening organs, machinery all running quite sleek

What fun I do have, kissing them each as I go
Sending you tingles all over, from your head to your toe

Diffusing back I then squeeze, two destinations resolute to find
The first, of course, being the treasure chest of your mind

Into treacherous territory I diffuse, adventuring the unknown without fear
Over intricate neurons I trek, crying, “What a jungle in here!”

Exploring your archaeological attic arcane, a spelunker’s finest delight
Such precious artifacts abound to dazzle my sight

Splitting your intellectual prism, gazing as kaleidoscopes unfold
This bounty of variegated patterns, so brilliant to behold

Electrical storms flashing forth, how intoxicating to see
What thoughts are you thinking? Could there be one of me?

Rolling ‘long gelatinous undulations, landscape breathtaking in view
Ricocheting off golden synaptic whispers, touching the electrochemical voice so intimately you

During my visit a side trip I must make, intense curiosity to peruse
Journeying forward I travel, into those deep beautiful blues

On the edge of your pupil I sit, not changing your guise
For one eager moment, to capture the world through your eyes

Into your venous stream I then leap, swept south as I part
Anticipation feverishly rising, I’ll soon be at your heart!

On your sinus node I readily perch, breathless joy, rippling so sweet
Momentarily fusing with your life’s rhythm, our hearts now truly one beat

Locked in synchronous throb, so soothing, each metered compress
Tethered passionately to your heart, emitting my own tender caress

Out your aorta with thrust, my electron rings now aflutter
Impish smile encroaching, “Hmmm, I think I’ll give him a shutter”

Into that pendulous rete I devlishly peer, spying drones concocting magical potion
Millions of asynchronized swimmers abound, wow, what Brownian motion!

To the watchtower then delivered, when egads! violent quaking spreads rife
Launched from the epicenter I sail, to the precipice I cling for dear life!

With faculties now clear, retrograde I begin my long crawl
(Perhaps this unannounced trip to the control center wasn’t such a good idea, after all…)

To peaceful waters at last I arrive, and onto a cellular raft wearily climb
Drifting contently, I bathe in my cherished memories of you, so sublime

And so, my love, this molecular meandering now complete – I can’t say this without blush,
Would you kindly extend me a favor, and next time please don’t flush?…
